Working an enquiry

Turn an enquiry into a client

Convert an enquiry, enter the agreed fee, and the checks that can block it.

Before you start

Your firm may require some steps first. By default a cleared conflict check is needed. If your Owner set KYC to Required, an approved KYC file is needed too. Check the progress steps under the enquiry title: Conflict check, KYC and Engagement letter. Converting is not automatic, even after the client signs.

Steps

  1. Open the enquiry. At the top right, open the Stage menu and choose Converted. (On the Board you can also drag the card to Converted.)

  2. In Convert to client, enter the Agreed fee (AED) in your firm's currency. Your best estimate is fine. Enter 0 for pro bono work.

  3. Select Convert.

What happens next

Qadiyo marks the enquiry as Converted and creates a client record. That is a record in Qadiyo. It is not a statement about whether your firm has accepted the person as a client.

Open Clients in the menu to see the record, with a client number such as C-000001, the practice area, the responsible lawyer, the enquiry it came from and the date. The Timeline records the conversion and the agreed fee. The fee feeds the partner report and analytics. Qadiyo keeps the client record today. Matter management is not built yet.

If something looks wrong

Qadiyo shows a red message and the enquiry does not convert.

  • Run a conflict check before converting this lead to a client. Run it (see Run a conflict check and decide on a match).
  • A partner needs to decide on the conflict check before this lead can become a client. Ask a partner.
  • The conflict check was declined, so this lead cannot become a client.
  • The parties changed after the last conflict check. Run the check again before converting.
  • Finish and approve the KYC checklist before converting this lead: complete the KYC file (see Complete the KYC checklist).
  • The Convert button stays grey. Type a fee first. 0 is allowed.
  • Lead is already converted: nothing more to do.
